What are persons?

A ``Person`` is a human being who existed at some point in time. The Monitor structures data on persons affiliated with or holding positions in specific ``units`` of security forces at a particular point in time.

Data about persons are captured in two claim types:

 - :ref:`Person Identity`: this claim type records basic information about a person's identity such as their name, aliases and the country in whose security forces they serve.
 - :ref:`Person Posting`: data about a person's career in the security forces, including the units to which they've been posted, their roles in those units, ranks and titles obtains.
