Overview: Materiel (Draft)

Materiel is a set of interlinked claim fields currently in development. The format described in this documentation is a proposed format which may change with further research and development.

What is Materiel?

Materiel is defined by the United States’ Department of Defense as: “[a]ll items necessary to equip, operate, maintain, and support military activities without distinction as to its application for administrative or combat purposes.”

Data about materiel is described by three claim types:

• Materiel: description of the item including names, classifications and other relevant fields.

• Component: description of how materiel is composed of other materiel.

• Equipment: defining the link between materiel and a unit.
